At the Innovation Lab, learning takes place in interactive, mobile STEM classrooms that bring science directly to neighborhoods across North Carolina. Since 2020, the Lab has adapted parks, parking lots, and schools into spaces where people of all ages can engage with biology, coding, and life sciences. Using tools such as Foldscopes and Ozobots, this community-centered approach removes barriers such as cost and transportation, making STEM education more accessible. Families are included through community science events. In the space of 12 months, the Lab reached over 2,000 students and 750 adults. By offering hands-on workshops that nurture a passion for STEM, the Innovation Lab supports the next generation of thinkers, creators, and scientists.
