Finance Officer

Oliver Davies oversees financial operations, systems, and strategy to support the organisation’s research and capacity-building work.

Oliver Davies brings over a decade of international financial leadership, with expertise in managing finances for complex, mission-driven organizations. He ensures sound financial governance across the Institute’s programs, supporting the effective delivery of research, evaluation, and capacity-building initiatives. He holds an MSc in Environmental Education and Interpretation from the University of Wisconsin and a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford. He is an Associate of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.

Expertise and experience

Before joining IMI, Oliver Davies was Financial Director at Parque das Aves, a leading conservation center in Brazil’s Atlantic Rainforest. There, he implemented enterprise resource planning systems, developed financial infrastructure, and led the organization through a prolonged revenue crisis during the coronavirus pandemic. His tenure also saw substantial revenue growth, expanded staff benefits, and formal recognition as a certified “Great Place to Work.”

Oliver co-founded the Claravis Institute, an NGO focused on avian conservation in partnership with the IUCN and CPSG. His career began in environmental education and interpretation, with earlier roles including English language teaching in the UK and Japan.
