Research and Training Officer

Dr. Rosie Everett is an environmental scientist committed to advancing methodologically innovative research with real-world policy relevance, particularly in the context of sustainability and nature-based solutions.

Her expertise spans participatory and mixed-methods research, social dimensions of environmental policy, and the use of data science to support public engagement and decision-making. With a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Warwick, she has held academic roles at Northumbria University and University College Cork, where she taught environmental data analysis, science-policy methods, and public engagement. She supervises doctoral researchers and contributes to research capacity-building programs for organizations such as the UN Environment Program, Research Ireland, and UK Research and Innovation.

Expertise and experience

In her role at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) Thriving Natural Capital Challenge Centre, Dr. Everett works with Professor Mark Reed on projects that embed robust research methods into policy and practice. Her work, funded by the European Commission, the British Academy, and UK research councils (NERC and ESRC), has shaped approaches to stakeholder engagement and co-produced knowledge for policy development.

Through her involvement with the Institute for Methods Innovation, Dr. Everett supports the design and delivery of research methods training that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and enhances the impact of environmental research. She leads workshops and co-develops tools aimed at supporting reflective, transparent, and adaptive methodologies, helping researchers and practitioners respond to complex sustainability challenges with methodological rigor and creativity.
